Privacy Policy

AirCare India is designed to minimise data collection. We collect:

• Location data — Only when you explicitly tap "Use my location". Your coordinates are sent directly to OpenWeatherMap to retrieve local AQI data. We do not store coordinates on our servers.

• City search queries — The city name you type is passed to OpenWeatherMap's geocoding API. We do not log or store search queries.

• AI prompts — If you use the AI Health Advisor, your AQI value and activity intent are sent to OpenRouter, which routes them to a third-party large language model. No personally identifiable information is included.

• Server logs — Standard Next.js / hosting provider logs may capture IP addresses and request paths for security purposes. These are retained for a maximum of 30 days.

We use the minimal data described above solely to:

• Fetch and display real-time air quality data for your location or searched city

• Generate personalised health advice via the AI Advisor feature

• Monitor service health and diagnose technical issues

AirCare India integrates with the following third-party providers:

• OpenWeatherMap (openweathermap.org) — Provides all AQI, pollutant, and historical data. Your city name or GPS coordinates are transmitted to their API. See their Privacy Policy at openweathermap.org/privacy-policy.

• OpenRouter (openrouter.ai) — Provides AI inference for the Health Advisor feature. AQI values and activity descriptions (no personal data) are transmitted. See their Privacy Policy at openrouter.ai/privacy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties.

AirCare India does not use tracking cookies or analytics SDKs, and sets no cookies of its own.

To remember your preferences between visits, the app stores the following in your own browser — never on our servers:

• Saved cities (name and coordinates) and your compare list — in localStorage.

• Health profile — in localStorage. Only the fixed categories you tick are stored; there is no free-text field.

• Alert settings (watched city and AQI threshold) — in IndexedDB, so the app can check air quality in the background when installed.

This data never leaves your device, is not readable by us, and is not synced anywhere. The one exception is the health profile: when you ask the AI Health Advisor a question, the categories you selected are sent with that request as fixed, generic phrases (for example "the user has asthma or COPD") so the advice can account for them. You can clear everything at any time with "Clear all" in the health profile panel, or by clearing site data in your browser.

All communication between your browser and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. We do not maintain a user database and therefore do not store passwords, email addresses, or personal profiles.

AirCare India is a general-public health utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data through this service, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

Since we do not maintain a user account system or persistent personal data store, most data-subject rights (access, erasure, portability) are not applicable to the data we handle. If you have concerns about server log data, you may contact us at the email below and we will address your request within 30 days.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Continued use of AirCare India after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
